To say I took a break from blogging is a bit of a modest statement. In fact, I pretty much forgot about it. In 2010 I had my first baby. I blogged here for three years (under The Triathlete Bride moniker) all about triathlons, marathons, our wedding and eventually even pregnancy. I had my hands full with ornery E2 and was also keeping a fitness only blog over at www.fitmommylife.com. By the time my first figure competition was over, I was also over blogging. I tried a few times but failed at making a blog comeback.
I've decided I missed my blogging outlet. I don't have anything exciting to talk about. There's no exotic Ironman triathlon in my future. No marathon PR at stake. So I'm going to talk about what I know. That's being an exhausted, three-part time job mom of an infant and a preschooler and wife to a super dedicated business man and daddy. I work at the gym a couple days a week, behind the keyboard several hours a week, and behind a sewing machine most nights. I get to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner with my kids every single day. I dabble with exercise in various forms. I laugh often, usually over bedtime stories and fart noises. I try not to yell when I scold E2 or the dogs. I have really long hair and I really do care. I change diapers ten times a day and only get poop on myself once or twice. I get to give love and feel love deep in my heart all, day each day.
So that's what I'm going to blog about.

Where Was I Before I Stopped Breathing?
I have a marathon in one week, 16hrs.
Julie is racing Chicago Marathon on Sunday.
IRONMAN Kona is TOMORROW.
I have budgets for mutli centers due TODAY.
My maternal grandmother passed away this week. I'm jumping a plane to Orlando on Sunday. I'll spend time with my mother, and extended family. I'll have budget presentations, and meetings from the moment I land back in Kansas City, until race day.
Did I mention the weather? It's raining, drizzling, and, what's this? SNOW tomorrow!? I know, it's flurries. But still!
I hear O-Town is setting record highs again. Won't that be a kick in the ass. At least it's taper time. My shorter runs will be in 95 degree. After, of course, tonight's run, and Sunday morning's- both in the lower 40's.
I'm teaching a swim coaches clinic for the association tomorrow. I don't really know what I'm going to say, I have a basic outline, but I haven't made a packet yet. Yikes.
Sn0o0w. I said it again.
I just finished admistering my 5th pool check of the week, the 3rd of which I played "victim" in a spinal scenario. I have scrapes on my neck from the cervical collar, and scratches on my arms and legs from the straps. At least my spine is fine.
I worked the ICE fashion show last night. Some of the models are great. Some need throat punches. I saw a lot of random boobs.
The good news: The marathon forecast for the 17th looks like this:
Oct 17 Saturday
Mix of sun and clouds. Highs in the mid 50s and lows in the low 40s..

I'm super itchy. It's nerves, irritation and dry dry skin.
I am hoping to finish up work before 7pm. I want to go home. Run, if possible. Drink a bottle of wine, and sit with my husband.
I'm really tired.
I need to breathe.

What I'm Doing.
Over the weekend I worked A LOT. Then I painted a bedroom, moved upstairs furniture down stairs (by myself), steam cleaned and vacummed everything.
Apparently, this managed to twist, torque, pinch and pull something in my back. So, I'm taking it easy. I had a really great 10 days of training prior to that, so I'm a little frustrated. I'm going to give swimming a try this evening, and if it's ok, run after.
5 full weeks left until Kansas 70.3. I've got half of that until my season opener olympic. I'm not really feeling as prepared as I should, but my coach keeps writing awesome workouts, it's just a matter of me getting them in.
We'll see how things work out. Doing all I can with what I can, when I can.

But I Have to Pee!
There's a water main break not far from my work this afternoon, thus, we have no running water. I'm in the middle of a project and am meeting Andrea for drinks in less than 2 hrs. I don't want to leave early just to go pee, since I have so much to do... but but but.. I gotta go.
Or, I could take a lesson from this chick:

I'm Alive
Even after everything, I'm alive. I keep looking for that rainbow and I think I can see it in the distance!! I've had a couple interviews in the last week, one they wanted to hire me, but the money was a j-o-k-e, the other I'll hear from shortly. They're wanting to start someone right after I get back from the honeymoon, so I think there's a good chance. Plus, it's actually a posistion I've been trying to get into for about 9 months now, so it would be pretty badass. :)
As for other details on what's bee bringing me down, I'm still not at liberty to discuss, but hopefully will be after tonight. ::sigh:: We're trying to get everything wrapped up, and I think that should happen this evening.
I'm finalizing everything for the wedding, and am growing more excited and anxious by the day. If it weren't for the baggage we're toting around right now I think Mr. Starfish and I would be floating in the clouds, so it's good we're still grounded.

It's Pumpkin Season, Alright
I love fall. It's my favorite season. Every little corner has an old pickup truck selling pumpkins out of the bed. If I could, I'd buy a whole load. Not sure what I'd do with them. Maybe I could draw faces on them and talk to them like Tom Hanks and Wilson. I'm kind of missing the daily companionship of people. I think that's why I like the coffee shop. I don't have to talk to anyone, because really I don't like that at all, but I can converse if I really want to. I can't do that at home when Eric's not there. It's just me and dogs. Shy is a dog, and well, is still wearing a lampshade so I don't think she'd talk to me if she could. Fuji, along with being a dog and unable to speak in human would probably speak in a language I can't understand anway. Like, Mongolian or something.
Yesterday morning I got up and went for a jog- I say jog instead of run because it was just me lollygagging around the neighborhood. It was chilly out. I still got hot towards the end, but it was nice to just enjoy the morning and come home to some fresh brewed coffee.
I may do another run sometime this afternoon. It's been a really long time since I've been running on back to back days, but I really don't think it would hurt anything. Also, later today I'm making my jewelery to go with my super hot shoes I purchased for my bachlorette party. I got them at a steal too. So, here they are:
Cute, eh? I love girlie details so these are perfect.
Anyway, back to my j-o-b searching and coffee drinking.

Not So Happy Housewife
Well, I'm pretty certian the whole stay at home housewife thing isn't for me. I've officially been unemployed (well, underemployed if you count my 4 hrs a week coaching swimming) since Wednesday evening, and this is everything I have done in that amount of time:
Thursday- Sat at Scooter's Coffee shop for nearly 8.5 hrs using the internet to whore myself out-er- post my resumes and apply at several businesses.
Friday- Cleaned. No, really, like, scrubbed the grout in the bathrooms with Clorox and a tooth brush cleaned. Ran a couple earrands that I've been "too busy for." Then managed to realize that I actually missed my run because I waited too long for said earrand and the future in-laws were ariving momentarily.
Saturday- My fiance bestowed upon me the gift of a cold. We're really taking the "in sickness" part of our vows quite seriously. Coached at 7:30am, cleaned the car, had hair and make up trials for wedding done, visited the wedding venues with said FIL's (future in-laws). Then made my way to the most bitchin bridal shower ever. I love my friends and family, I seriously think I have the most fabulous bridesmaids in the world. Came home, drank wine, passed out from a wine/sudafed OD on the couch.

Here's all the great ladies from the shower! My mom is on my left, and my grandma is directly above my right shoulder.
Sunday- made breakfast, saw the FIL's off. Slept on kitchen floor, because it's cold, with the girl dog. Finally got up about 5:30 with Fi (fiance, see look, there's tons of fun wedding acronyms and abbreviations). We put on our running shoes, but within minutes made it a sickness induced walk. We held hands the whole time and looked at the brandnew fancy houses in our neighborhod. They're 300k, but I like our little house better. We came home and went to sleep.
Finally, Monday, today, I woke up and coached, came home and slept again, and ::gasp:: didn't have to get up and leave for work at 6:30am. That was nice and all, but I spent an hr talking to FI about my dcreased feelings of self worth because I lost my job. Very sweetly he told me "You're not worthhhlesss." Aww. Then I made beds (we didn't sleep together because he's afraid to contract my sickness as he's getting over his), made breaky, cleaned, cleaned, and disinfected. Played with the dogs, and did some more job searching. Thus, you find me here, parked on the floor of FI's boat shop, bumming the wireless and doing well, nothing.
I don't think the stay at home housewife thing is going to be for me. All that cleaning, and getting up whenever. Um, I'm a schedule girl. Consistency is my friend.
I'm thinking tomorrow morning, however, I may be feeling up to a little run, if I don't wake up gagging on my phlem.. and the rest of you will be heading to work. Ha! Maybe I'll just jog into somewhere with a stack of resumes.
